Q1. Who is Mutemi Damaris, and how would you describe yourself as a model, style enthusiast, and young entrepreneur in Kenya?

My name is Mutemi Damaris, and I would describe myself as a creative, ambitious, and purpose-driven young woman passionate about modeling, fashion, and entrepreneurship.

I began my modeling journey in 2022, initially focusing on pageantry. In 2023, I became Miss Kibwezi Sub-County, and in 2025, I was crowned Miss Cooperative University First Runner-Up. Currently, I hold the title of Miss Makueni County. I have intentionally chosen to focus on one major pageant each year so that I can maximize each title, create meaningful impact, and make the most of the opportunities that come with it.

Recently, I have expanded into commercial modeling, which has inspired me to seek partnerships with brands that align with my interests and personal brand. So far, I have worked with Darling Kenya, Hello Mr Right, and Neiommy Salon and Spa, and I look forward to collaborating with many more brands.

Beyond modeling and fashion, I am passionate about entrepreneurship. I believe young people have the ability to innovate, create opportunities, and build solutions rather than wait for employment. This belief inspired me to establish my own company, Run4Me, an errands and delivery business that helps people save time and makes their everyday lives easier.

Ultimately, I see myself as a young woman who is constantly evolving, exploring her creativity, and using her passions to build something meaningful.

Q2. What inspired you to pursue modeling and develop your passion for fashion and style?

My passion for fashion and style started long before I consciously recognized it. People would often compliment my outfits, even when I felt I had simply thrown a few pieces together without putting much thought into them. Looking back, I realize that I naturally had an eye for putting outfits together.

However, the person who really pushed me to pursue modeling was my elder sister, who held the title of Miss Kibwezi in 2022. After her reign, she encouraged me to follow in her footsteps, supported me throughout the journey, and believed in me even before I fully believed in myself.

When I won my first title, I discovered that modeling was more than just wearing beautiful outfits or standing in front of a camera. It was an opportunity to grow in confidence, express myself, develop my leadership skills, and make an impact.

Since then, my passion has continued to grow, and I am now exploring more opportunities in commercial modeling, fashion, and brand collaborations.

Q3. How would you describe your personal fashion style, and what inspires your fashion choices?

I would describe my personal style as unapologetically me. I don’t necessarily follow one particular fashion category because I enjoy experimenting with different looks depending on how I feel and what I want to express that day.

Sometimes I want to look official and sophisticated; other times, I prefer something casual, sexy, whimsical, or even boyish. I enjoy looking at what I already have in my wardrobe and creatively putting pieces together to achieve the look I envision.

My fashion choices are also guided by my personal values. As a Christian, I believe I can express myself through fashion while remaining true to my faith and principles. The occasion also plays an important role in what I choose to wear.

For me, fashion is not simply about wearing expensive clothes or following trends. It is about creativity, confidence, and expressing different sides of your personality while staying true to who you are.

Q4. What inspired you to venture into entrepreneurship, and what business goals are you working towards?

I would say my inspiration comes from two things: purpose and the desire for financial independence.

I believe there is something meaningful about identifying a problem, developing a solution, and creating something that can improve people’s lives. At the same time, I understand the importance of building a sustainable source of income, especially as a young person who wants to create her own opportunities.

That is what inspired me to start Run4Me, an errands and delivery business built around the idea of making people’s lives easier by helping them get things done when they don’t have the time to do them themselves.

My goal is to grow Run4Me into a reliable and profitable business that can expand beyond my direct involvement, create employment opportunities for other young people, and eventually serve a much wider market.

I am also interested in exploring other entrepreneurial opportunities that align with my creativity and purpose. For me, entrepreneurship is not just about making money; it is about building solutions, creating opportunities, and turning ideas into something tangible.

Q5. What challenges have you faced in modeling and business, and how do you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges I have faced is trying to build my dreams with limited resources. Modeling requires investment in things such as transport, outfits, grooming, and professional content, while running a business requires capital, consistency, and the ability to reach the right customers.

As a young entrepreneur, I have also had to learn many things along the way, from pricing my services and attracting clients to understanding how to make a business sustainable and profitable. There is no guarantee that every opportunity will work out, and sometimes you have to keep going even when the results are not immediate.

I have learned to overcome these challenges by being resourceful, taking initiative, learning from people who have more experience, and making the most of the opportunities available to me. I am also learning to be more intentional about how I use my time and resources so that I can grow without losing sight of my other responsibilities.

Most importantly, I have learned that I do not have to have everything figured out before I start. Sometimes, growth comes from being willing to begin, learn through experience, and improve along the way.

Q6. What are your future dreams, and how do you hope to inspire other young Kenyans through your journey?

My dream is to build a life and career that bring together modeling, entrepreneurship, creativity, and impact. In modeling, I hope to work with more local and international brands, grow in commercial modeling, and establish myself as a recognizable face in the industry.

In entrepreneurship, I want to scale Run4Me into a sustainable company that creates employment, solves everyday problems, and demonstrates that young people can build successful businesses from simple but meaningful ideas.

Beyond my personal achievements, I want to use my platforms and opportunities to encourage other young people to discover their gifts, develop their abilities, and take their ideas seriously. I believe you do not have to wait until you graduate, have a lot of money, or have everything figured out to begin pursuing your purpose.

My journey is still unfolding, and I am learning every day. But if there is one thing I hope people take away from it, it is that you can start small, work with what you have, remain true to your values, and still dare to dream big.

I want young Kenyans, especially young women, to see that it is possible to embrace different passions, build something of your own, and create opportunities for yourself and others. You do not have to choose between being creative and being business-minded; you can use both to build the future you envision.
